The 'Hello Latvia' Tour is designed to provide a balanced overview of the culinary and cultural life of Latvia. Rob and Mara will make this an exciting adventure into one of the most beautiful and culturally rich parts of Northern Europe.
Package includes transport to and from Riga airport; 5 nights upmarket comfortable accommodation with ensuite in a boutique hotel on the cobbled streets of the old city; Plus 4 nights unique comfortable country accommodation with ensuites; daily breakfast; welcome drinks; tastings; day tours to picturesque country areas; entry fees; cooking classes and a daily main meal of lunch or dinner. Diverse meals will introduce you to all aspects of Latvian cuisine - old and new.
Itinerary: (Please note it may be subject to minor changes)
Day 1: Arrival to Riga. Complimentary welcome drinks followed by dinner in the old city where we meet the chef and sample his fresh approach to traditional flavours and Latvian produce.
Day 2: Architectural walk amidst Art Nouveau buildings finishing in the buzz of the old city – a UNESCO World Heritage site. Visit an historic KGB site along the way. Free afternoon for a river boat cruise or shopping. A la carte dinner in a city restaurant – stroll along cobbled streets observing a Riga evening.
Day 3: Tour of the vast Central Markets with tastings. We then visit an outdoor Ethnographic open air museum to see past life in Latvia set in a picturesque forest by a lake. Time for a rest before a cooking class in one of Riga’s top restaurants. Celebrate your class with a sit down dinner in a private room.
Day 4: Day tour to the Zemgale region. Explore medieval and baroque castles, enjoy a sumptuous lunch (with an opportunity to taste many traditional dishes) and a garden walk before heading back to the city. Evening – Free time.
Day 5: Day tour to the resort town of Jurmala, a short drive from Riga and home of wooden architecture, a 26km beach lined with pine forests and a township of cafes, restaurants and shops. A guided walk through the forest to the beach is followed by free time to explore the township. Our final evening in the city closes with another amazing restaurant experience.
Day 6: Day tour to the Vidzeme region. Stunning river views, a drive through the Gauja National Park flanked with birch trees and wildflowers, picnic lunch and castles. Arrival to our country guesthouse in the scenic countryside.
Day 7: Enjoy a day in the countryside with planned activities, including the art of making rye bread. Dinner in the guesthouse.
Day 8: A country drive takes us through forests, fields, river crossing, lunch in a village brewery with time for walks and leisure to soak in the scenery. Afternoon arrival to our contemporary hotel in the countryside. You will be served an amazing dinner in this unique location.
Day 9: A casual day with a farm visit or two, authentic Latvian sauna (a must when in Latvia!) and maybe a surprise or two!
Day 10 : End of tour. Return to Riga.
You may wish to extend your holiday: Tour the other Baltic states of Estonia and Lithuania – Catch a ferry to Stockholm – Fly to Helsinki, Copenhagen – or a train to Gdansk, Poland. You may just want to stay a couple of extra nights in Riga to reflect on your Latvian tour.

This is a boutique tour with a maximum of 10-12 people per group. Please note that if the tour fills, there is a possibility of an extra tour to be scheduled shortly after this one.
